Mokume or Mokume-gane, or "wood-eye metal," is a labor intensive an old world Japanese metal smithing technique.
It involves layering different colored metals together then using heat and pressure to cause the metals to fuse together.
Once fused the piece is carved into a topography and flattened to create the beautiful patterns.
